Description

The TN301X is a 25-inch XLW high-performance HSS smooth-back planer and jointer knife bar, 1-1/2 inches wide and 3/16 inches thick. XLW HP HSS delivers longer edge retention than standard T1 or M2 grades — designed for production shops that prioritize extending grind intervals and reducing time spent on knife maintenance. The 1-1/2-inch wide smooth-back bar is used in gib-clamped or wedge-clamped planer and jointer heads at this knife height. Bar-length stock provides in-shop knife cutting flexibility: cut from the 25-inch bar to required machine knife lengths as needed. XLW HP alloy is ground with standard HSS-compatible abrasive wheels. Choose XLW over T1 where production pace and knife maintenance frequency are competing demands — longer edge life means fewer grinding stops and more continuous cutting time per knife set. Confirm head accepts smooth-back knife stock at 3/16″ thickness and 1-1/2″ knife height.
