Profile Knives

For nearly a century, CGG Schmidt has ground precision profile knives — also called moulding, moulder, or shaper knives — for professional shops running shapers, moulders, and planer-moulders. Our program spans hundreds of standard patterns, from crowns and coves to casings, bases, hand rails, and more, plus full custom grinding to match any sample, drawing, or legacy profile. Knives ship as matched sets (typically pairs) in M2 high-speed steel for hardwoods and softwoods, with carbide-tipped options for MDF and abrasive man-made materials.

Corrugated-back and Williams & Hussey

We supply both corrugated-back (CB) knives that seat in corrugated heads on shapers and moulders, and flat-back Williams & Hussey profile knives for W&H and compatible planer-moulders. If you know your machine and head, we'll match the right knife back, steel size, and grade.
