The WH404M is a 4-13/16 in. OD, 4 in. cut length, 40mm bore, 2-pocket corrugated back knife head with 23° hook angle — the metric bore version of the WH404H for Williams & Hussey moulder configurations with European 40mm spindles. European-market W&H machines and equipment fitted with metric spindle upgrades require the 40mm bore to achieve proper head fit and runout tolerance; the inch-bore WH404H cannot be used interchangeably. The WH404M provides the same 4-13/16 in. OD and 23° hook as the WH404H, maintaining knife profile compatibility with other W&H replacement knives in the shop while accommodating the metric spindle specification. Corrugated back retention locks straight-back profile knives in both seat pockets. The WH406M is the 6 in. CEL metric version for taller profiles. Confirm the machine spindle uses 40mm nominal bore — actual spindle tolerance varies by machine and year, and bore fit directly affects head runout and cutting performance.
