Description
The IC209 is a 4-3/4 in. diameter, 3-wing carbide insert raised panel back cutter for shapers with 1-1/4 in. bore, complete with three carbide inserts. Raised panel back cutters rabbet the back face of door panels to reduce panel edge thickness to the dimension required to seat in the door frame groove — a critical step in frame-and-panel door production. Without proper back-cutting, a raised panel cannot seat fully in the frame groove, resulting in panels that rattle, bind, or crack during seasonal wood movement. The IC209 back cutter delivers a clean, flat rabbet on the panel’s back face; the three-wing carbide insert design provides the sharp edge and smooth finish needed to avoid secondary sanding. The back cutter is run as a separate pass from the face profile cut on the panel raising head. Complete with three carbide inserts installed. For use with matched stile-and-rail door sets and panel raising tooling. Confirm back-cut depth is appropriate for the panel thickness and frame groove dimensions before production.
