The TN302X is a 25-inch XLW high-performance HSS smooth-back planer and jointer knife bar, 1-3/4 inches wide and 3/16 inches thick. At 1-3/4-inch width, this bar covers deeper knife profile heights for heads requiring taller knife bodies — moulder configurations, wide sticking profiles, and planer heads with extended knife reach. Smooth-back flat rear surface is required for gib-clamped and set-screw-secured knife systems; the 3/16-inch thickness must match the head’s knife slot. XLW HP provides Schmidt’s best edge retention among HSS bar stock options, reducing grind frequency in production operation. For shops running significant volumes through moulder or combination machines where the 1-3/4-inch knife height is the standard specification, XLW’s extended service life across the full production run reduces total knife maintenance cost.
