Description
The MH785 is an 8 in. OD, 3/4 in. wide, 1-1/4 in. bore, 4-pocket corrugated back cope head with 25° hook angle. The 8 in. diameter provides greater peripheral cutting speed than the 7 in. MH780 at the same spindle RPM — higher peripheral speed on end-grain cope cuts in hardwood produces a cleaner, less fuzzy surface on the coped profile. Cope heads cut the end-grain negative profile on door stiles that mates with the stick profile on rails in frame-and-panel door production. The larger OD also increases the arc of contact on the cope cut, which can improve cope profile accuracy on wider stile material. The 25° hook angle supports chip evacuation on end-grain hardwood cuts. Four knife pockets in a 3/4 in. wide head provide the cope width used in standard frame-and-panel door construction. The larger 8 in. diameter requires confirming shaper spindle clearance and maximum head diameter capacity before mounting. The MH786 is the 6-pocket version. Cope knives sold separately.
