Description
The MH780 is a 7 in. OD, 3/4 in. wide, 1-1/4 in. bore, 4-pocket corrugated back cope head with 25° hook angle for coping operations on production shapers and moulders. Coping heads cut the end-grain negative profile on door stiles that matches the stick profile on the rails, completing the stile-and-rail door joint. The large 7 in. OD provides the cutting radius needed for clean, efficient cope cuts with adequate chip clearance on end-grain hardwood — a cut type that demands both sharp tooling and sufficient peripheral speed to avoid surface fuzz and tearout. The 25° hook angle is higher than standard moulder heads, providing aggressive chip evacuation on end-grain cuts where chip clearance is more challenging than long-grain moulding. Four knife pockets improve cut smoothness over 2-pocket designs at the same cope width. The 3/4 in. body width establishes the cope depth and fits standard cope head spacer arrangements. The MH781 is the 6-pocket variant for higher feed rates. Cope head knives sold separately.
