Description
The IC240T is the 30mm solid carbide tongue-profile insert for Schmidt’s ID55-series flooring cutter heads, producing the tongue side of the tongue-and-groove flooring joint. In T&G flooring production, the tongue insert and groove insert must produce matched profiles — loose fit causes floor movement and squeaking; tight fit makes installation difficult and can split boards during assembly. Solid carbide construction provides the dimensional stability and edge retention needed to hold consistent tongue geometry across long production runs in hardwood flooring manufacturing. When IC240T insert wear causes tongue dimension to drift, the insert is replaced in the ID55 head without removing the head from the spindle. The IC240T seats in ID55-series heads using the IC240GIB gib as the clamping component. Pairs with IC240G for groove boards. The IC240GMB and IC240TMB are micro-bevel versions for face-sensitive or prefinished flooring materials where the standard sharp edge produces chipout at the tongue shoulder.
