Description
Torx-drive insert screws are the standard fastener for indexable carbide inserts in Schmidt insert tooling heads. The T15 Torx wrench is the correct tool for the insert screws used in INKS414-series heads, providing the hex engagement geometry needed to apply proper clamping torque without fastener rounding or cam-out. Insert screws in indexable tooling require controlled torque — over-tightening can crack inserts or distort the insert seat, while under-tightening allows insert movement during cutting and produces poor surface quality. A dedicated Torx wrench at the correct size ensures consistent torque across all insert positions on the head. This wrench should be kept at the machine with the insert heads it serves to facilitate quick insert rotation and replacement during production. The T15 size corresponds specifically to INKS414-series insert screws; confirm screw size before using on other insert tooling heads. Replacement wrench for shops where the original has been lost or damaged.
