The TN305H is a 25-inch M2 HSS smooth-back planer and jointer knife bar at the widest standard dimension in the Schmidt smooth-back range: 2-1/2 inches wide and 3/16 inches thick. The 2-1/2-inch width serves heads requiring tall knife bodies for wide profile cuts or deep sections — typical in heavy moulder knife holders, door and window sticking profiles, and wide architectural moulding applications where the knife must span a deep profile height. Smooth-back format is required for gib-clamped and set-screw-secured knife heads. M2 HSS alloy’s improved toughness over T1 is most valuable at this width — a 2-1/2-inch-wide knife experiences substantial mechanical loading during profiling, and M2’s higher toughness resists micro-chipping at wider knife sections better than standard T1 grades. Ground to finished profile on standard surface grinding equipment. At this width, face grinding requires adequate wheel coverage and proper dressing to maintain flat edge geometry. Confirm head accepts smooth-back stock at 3/16″ thickness and 2-1/2″ knife height before ordering.
