The IN5008 is an 8 in. OD, 1 in. cutting edge length, 1-1/4 in. bore, 12-wing indexable groove and rabbet head with 4 carbide spurs per side. The 12-wing design at 8 in. diameter maximizes cutting frequency — more insert engagements per revolution produce a smoother groove surface and allow higher feed rates compared to the 6-wing IN500 and IN5006, making the IN5008 the choice for maximum production throughput in high-volume groove and rabbet operations. Four carbide spurs per side provide denser entry-line scoring for cleaner groove entry in face-sensitive panel materials, reducing chipout at groove edges even at elevated feed rates. The 8 in. OD is the largest in the IN500 series, requiring adequate spindle clearance and an industrial shaper capable of safely operating an 8 in. diameter head. The 1 in. CEL provides up to 1 in. groove or rabbet depth. Confirm safe operating speed for an 8 in. OD head before use; inserts and spurs are ordered separately.
