Description

The ID8240C is the 40mm bore version of the 6 in. diameter, 3-wing IC240-series indexable flooring cutter head, for production shapers equipped with metric 40mm spindles common in European-origin woodworking machinery. Head body accepts IC240-series 60mm solid carbide profile inserts for producing tongue and groove flooring profiles in hardwood flooring manufacturing. The 40mm bore accommodates metric precision-ground shaper spindles where inch-bore heads would not run true. Three-wing construction provides balanced cut dynamics on hardwood flooring species and produces the smooth edge finish required for flooring assembled by tight tongue-and-groove fit. Inserts are replaced or indexed at the head without removing the body from the spindle. IC240T, IC240G, and IC240 inserts are ordered separately, as is the IC240GIB gib. Confirm metric spindle diameter and bore tolerance specifications — 40mm nominal bore shapers vary in actual spindle diameter by manufacturer, and bore fit directly affects head runout.
