Description
The Schmidt RCZ1236 is a single-flute straight Z-flute solid-carbide router bit at 1/4″” dia × 1/4″” shank × 7/8″” cut, 2-1/2″” OAL. Z-flute geometry — a straight, high-rake modified flute form — is engineered for carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP), fiberglass, G10, FR4, Kevlar-hybrid, and other abrasive composite materials that destroy conventional spiral geometries. The straight cutting action minimizes delamination and fiber pull-out at the cut edge, producing a clean, damage-free composite edge without fraying. Solid carbide withstands the extreme abrasivity of carbon fiber and fiberglass far longer than HSS tooling. Use dry or with compressed air; coolant-based cutting fluids contaminate composite fiber panels and are generally incompatible with CFRP machining. Run at high RPM and conservative feed rates per pass to avoid composite delamination; reduce depth-of-cut per pass in CFRP compared to MDF or solid wood routing.
