Description
The Schmidt RCCL2354 is a 2-flute compression solid-carbide laminate spiral bit at 1/2″” dia × 1/2″” shank × 1-1/4″” cut, 3″” OAL. Laminate spiral bits use a geometry optimized for the unique demands of routing high-pressure laminate (HPL), compact laminate, post-formed worktop, melamine board, and similar hard, abrasion-prone laminate-faced substrates. Compression laminate geometry cleans both the top and bottom faces of laminated panels in a single through-cut pass, eliminating delamination and chip-out on both surfaces. The standard choice for through-cuts in HPL-faced substrates, kitchen worktops, compact laminate, and similar double-faced laminated sheet goods. Laminate faces are highly abrasive — tool life is shorter than in wood or MDF and requires solid carbide at minimum; some shops use diamond-coated or PCD-tipped tooling for extreme-volume laminate work. Run at appropriate chip load for the substrate; inspect cutting edge frequently and replace before edge degradation begins producing ragged cut faces.
