The cove — a concave quarter-round sweep — is one of the most-used moulding profiles, appearing in crowns, transitions, and standalone trim. CGG Schmidt grinds cove knives across a wide range of radii and spring angles for shapers, moulders, and planer-moulders.

Clean concave cuts

Concave profiles demand a sharp, well-supported edge to avoid tear-out, so our cove knives are ground from M2 high-speed steel for hardwoods and softwoods, with carbide-tipped options for MDF and man-made materials. Available corrugated-back or as flat-back Williams & Hussey knives in matched sets. For a specific cove radius or a combination profile, send us the pattern to grind.
