Description

When rip quality matters alongside rip speed, 36 teeth on a 14 in. rip blade delivers the face finish that narrows the gap between the saw and the jointer. This STG rip blade on a 1 in. bore handles production ripping in hardwood and solid lumber on large-format saws, but at 36 teeth the rip face is noticeably smoother than a 24-tooth rip blade output at comparable feed rates. Straight top grind geometry keeps the cutting action efficient in the long-grain direction — the flat-topped teeth take clean bites without the side-pressure of angled grind geometry — while 36 teeth at 14 in. provides more tooth contacts per linear inch of rip cut than lower tooth count rip blades deliver. The result is a rip face that requires less jointing before glue-up or finish processing. The 1 in. bore fits large-format North American and European saws that run 14 in. blades. Carbide tips are ground to STG geometry to hold their edge through production ripping in oak, maple, cherry, and other domestic hardwoods. For operations where rip face quality affects downstream jointing time, a 36-tooth 14 in. rip blade is a practical upgrade.
