Description

The TC20731 is a 31-inch carbide-tipped HSS bar-length planer and jointer knife bar, 1-1/2 wide and 5/32 thick. The 31-inch length extends the yield for shops cutting individual knives to machine-specific lengths — the additional length over a standard 25-inch bar serves wider machine configurations or allows more cuts per bar for standard-length knives. The 1-1/2-wide cross-section provides the knife height required for profiles within this dimension range; 5/32 thickness is the knife slot specification — confirm the machine head accepts 5/32-thick knives before ordering. Carbide tipping extends edge life significantly over solid HSS in hardwood, abrasive manufactured board, and high-volume softwood production — carbide-tipped knives require diamond grinding equipment and are preferred where edge intervals must span long production runs. Grind to finished geometry on a surface grinder. Suited to jointer heads and planer heads accepting 5/32 × 1-1/2 knife stock at 31-inch bar length.
