Description
The Schmidt RCML2364 is a 2-flute solid-carbide mortise compression router bit at 1/2″” dia × 1/2″” shank × 1-5/8″” cut, 3-1/2″” OAL. Mortise compression bits use a shorter compression geometry optimized for blind pocket cuts — dadoes, grooves, mortises, and shallow pockets where both entry faces of the cut must be clean without breaking through the panel. Like a full compression spiral, the mortise compression combines upcut at the tip with downcut geometry toward the shank, cleaning both the pocket floor and the top face simultaneously. The shorter overall length compared to a full compression spiral provides improved rigidity for pocket cuts in laminated MDF, melamine board, and veneered plywood. Use for dados, shelf pin grooves, drawer bottom grooves, and other blind or partial-depth cuts in laminated panel goods on CNC routers. Solid carbide for edge retention and consistent geometry in production routing.
