Description

The Schmidt RCO2242 is a 2-flute straight O-flute solid-carbide router bit at 1/4″” dia × 1/4″” shank × 1-1/4″” cut, 3″” OAL. O-flute (also called zero-flute or single O-flute) geometry features a large, open rounded flute that provides maximum chip clearance and prevents the chip re-welding and heat buildup that occurs when routing thermoplastics with standard spiral geometries. Straight O-flute geometry cuts cleanly without an axial chip-clearing direction — suited for shallow passes and plunge cuts in plastics, acrylics, and soft non-ferrous metals. Produces clean side walls and flat pocket floors with minimal material deformation. O-flute bits are the standard choice for routing acrylic (PMMA), polycarbonate, PVC, HDPE, ABS, and similar thermoplastic materials on CNC routers, as well as aluminum composite material (ACM), foam PVC, and other non-ferrous soft metals and composites. Use compressed air or misting coolant in aluminum and other heat-sensitive materials to assist chip removal and prevent bit loading.
