Description

The AC803 is the Schmidt Rotocator Dial Indicator with Magnetic Base, model W1218A — a precision knife-setting instrument for jointer and planer knife height measurement. The dial indicator and magnetic base assembly allows the operator to measure each knife’s height above the cutterhead with dial indicator precision, achieving knife-to-knife consistency beyond what mechanical setting jigs alone provide. The magnetic base secures the indicator to a steel reference surface (outfeed table, planer table, or machine bed), and the indicator probe contacts each knife in turn as the cutterhead is rotated by hand, reading height variance directly on the dial. For production shops where knife height consistency is critical to surface quality — particularly on wide material where uneven knives cause step marks — dial indicator setting provides the highest achievable accuracy.
