Description
Dado joinery — shelf dadoes, sliding dovetails, drawer bottom grooves, and cross-lap joints — is most efficiently cut with a stacked dado set rather than a router or multiple passes with a single blade. This 8 in. 7-piece dado set on a 5/8 in. bore cuts dado widths from 1/4 in. to 29/32 in. in a single pass by stacking the outer saw blades with the supplied 4-wing chippers and shims at the desired width. The 24-tooth outer blades establish clean shoulder lines at the dado’s edges while the chippers remove the waste between them, leaving a flat bottom suitable for fitted joinery. An 8 in. dado set is compatible with the full range of 10 in. cabinet saws and radial arm saws where dado capacity is limited by arbor clearance or blade guards. The 5/8 in. bore is standard on North American cabinet saw arbors. Four-wing chippers handle material removal efficiently in hardwood, plywood, and solid wood panels at dado cut depths. This set covers the range of dado widths needed for standard joinery in solid wood furniture, cabinet construction, and millwork applications.
