Description

The WC183 is a 6-wing carbide-tipped straight-top groover — 8-inch OD, 1/2-inch kerf width, and 1-1/4-inch bore. This is the heaviest-duty combination in the straight groover range: maximum OD, maximum kerf, and maximum wing count for cutting wide 1/2-inch slots through hardwood at production rates with the smoothest possible cut quality. Applications include 1/2-inch plywood panel grooves in solid wood frames, wide shelf dadoes in dense hardwood furniture cases, and heavy T&G profiles. The 8-inch OD provides the inertia and rigidity needed to hold kerf width and groove floor flatness on long, heavy cuts that would deflect smaller groovers. Confirm shaper HP capacity before use — an 8-inch OD cutter running a 1/2-inch kerf represents a significant chip load.
