Description

The WC161 is a 6-wing carbide-tipped straight-top groover — 6-inch OD, 1/4-inch kerf width, and 1-1/4-inch bore. The 6-inch diameter adds rotational mass compared to the 4-inch WC141, producing smoother cuts with less vibration at the same kerf width — a meaningful advantage in production shaper environments where surface finish in the groove affects assembly quality. Six wings provide more cutting edges per revolution than the 3-wing 4-inch groovers, contributing to a cleaner cut at the groove floor. At 1/4-inch kerf, WC161 cuts standard panel grooves, drawer bottom slots, and T&G profiles. The additional mass and wing count of the 6-inch format are particularly beneficial on long straight runs and when grooving harder species.
