Description
Large-format cutting of non-wood composite materials requires a blade sized for the saw and ground for the material. This 16 in. TCG blade at 60 teeth on a 1 in. bore handles aluminum plate, solid surface panels, fiber cement, dense plastic sheet, and abrasive composite materials on the large sliding table saws and production cut-off saws that run 16 in. diameter blades. Triple chip grind geometry prevents the chipping and cracking at cut edges that ATB produces in brittle materials — the flat trapper tooth establishes the cut while the chamfered raker clears the kerf without initiating stress fractures in the material face. Sixty teeth at 16 in. maintain enough gullet volume to clear the chip load from wide cuts in dense composite materials without packing. Carbide tips are ground to TCG geometry and hold their edge through demanding cuts in abrasive and non-ferrous materials. The 1 in. bore is standard on large-format production saws in this class. Shops processing mixed materials on large sliding saws benefit from a dedicated 16 in. TCG blade for non-wood cutting without compromising ATB blade life reserved for finish woodwork.
