Description
The Schmidt RCCR2414 is a 2-flute compression rougher solid-carbide spiral bit at 5/8″” dia × 5/8″” shank × 2″” cut, 4″” OAL. Rougher spiral geometry uses an aggressive flute profile and cutting edge form designed for maximum material removal rate (MRR) in roughing passes — removing bulk stock rapidly before a finishing pass refines the surface. Compression configuration cleans both entry faces during roughing through-cuts in laminated panels. Rougher bits trade surface finish quality for cutting speed — they are not intended for final finish passes. Use in roughing toolpaths at higher feed rates and larger depths of cut than would be appropriate for a finishing spiral, then follow with a standard spiral or finishing bit at a light final pass for the required surface finish. Particularly effective for large-format CNC nesting operations where cycle time is the primary concern and parts will receive downstream sanding or finishing. Solid carbide handles the increased load and heat generation of aggressive roughing passes.
